About Woodlands

Woodlands Historic Park truly is a hidden treasure in Melbourne’s north.  The park is adjacent to Melbourne Airport, covers an area of about 820ha and is bordered by Oaklands Road to the west, Sunbury Road to the south-west, Mickleham Road to the east and Somerton Road to the north. Woodlands lies within the City of Hume and is managed by Parks Victoria. There are so many different areas to explore, so much diverse flora, a wide range of birdlife and a large kangaroo population.

Whilst there are many other attractions, my main love at Woodlands is the diverse bird life. The purpose of this website is to showcase the many different species of birds I have been lucky enough to photograph at Woodlands, it’s fauna and landscapes. Please use the tabbed menus at the top of the page to view the different pages.

Each bird species page features a selection of my favourite photos of that bird taken at Woodlands, you can view a larger size picture in Flickr by simply clicking the image. I have also included a quick link on most pages to display other pictures of that species in Flickr (note that some may be taken in other locations).

If you are not already a Woodlands visitor I encourage you to check out this beautiful place.
